Jonathan Cunningham MBE

Is the registered care home manager. This is not just any manager but the eldest son of the owner Carol Hardman. As Jonathan jokes ‘She remains the BIG BOSS’ Jonathan is a decorated soldier after 16 years operational service in the Army. He has served in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Bosnia and was awarded an MBE in 2010.

He is well experienced in team building and is immensely proud of his ‘care troops’ at Birkdale Park. He is passionate about outstanding care delivery and was awarded the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Social Care’ for his UK leadership role in the COVID Pandemic. 

Jonathan is a caring and compassionate care leader who finds great life reward in what he does. Jonathan is different from other care managers. He is the vital continuity across Birkdale Park. He is here for the long term. This is a vital stability for his care team who feel safe and looked after. Jonathan issues a regular video update to all his relatives. All relatives have his personal phone number. His humble mantra is ‘we don’t always get it right’ so, when we make a mistake we own up and sort it out! Open, honest communication with our families is the key to success.

Jonathan is also the chair and founder of the North and South Sefton Care Home Group looking after 125 Care Homes across Sefton and the Care Managers Inner Circle with over 6,000 care managers online. Birkdale Park and the delivery of exceptional loving care for mum and dad is what emotionally drives Jonathan and his team.
